Beware when two or more cardinals are gathered in His name!
As a lay Catholic, I respect and value the opinion of Cardinal Zen. His objective views are most appreciated. Excess adjudication of the action of the Holy Spirit during Synods and Consistories is suspicious, borders on heresy and opens the manipulation gates. Thank you Cardinal Zen!
I am probably confused -- which is neither an odd nor a surprising state in my case -- but am I wrong to identify that which Cardinal Zen warns about, namely schism, as the very thing that those here in the United States most opposed to synodality actually desire?
From my limited study of materials and opinions related to synodality I myself have come to the conclusion that it could only leas to schism. As a convert who left Protestantism partly to for once and all escape such schismatic possibilities and tendencies in a Christian communal body, I can honestly say that synodality has no appeal to me.
But likewise I can say, and with even more clear-eyed certainty, that neither does schism have any appeal whatsoever.
Clearly it is the latter which is most dangerous. But indeed if the former would have a tendency to make way for the latter, let us with clear hearts cast both aside.
My dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ! We are living probably in the most challenging and difficult of times since the Great Schism 1054. Somewhere, somehow or someone decided that the Faith and Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ isn't perfect after all! We have been flung left and right on a turbulent Ark, many are falling off. Its all Gods permissible will after all. The Test has begun. The storm is raging with both with the Shepherds of the Church and with the demands of the laity. It appears we are looking to blame anyone for the mess we are in. The solution is a gift within us and the grace of the one true Church given to us by God. The rubrics of our faith will withstand any storm, because it is perfect. God defined the role of Man and the role of a woman in Adam and Eve. He defined the Law in the Old Testament. He revealed the truth, the fulfilment of his love, in Jesus Christ in the New Testament and now we have the Holy Spirit to take us all the way to Eternal Life. Satan is powerful because we are weak now. He wants a divided church. He is between us and God. We must fight back, reclaim our faith in Jesus Christ, go find a brother or sister pray together, resist the temptation to doubt God. Trust him! Do not accept compromise in reverencing Our Lord. There is only one mass "Traditional Latin Mass" that will calm the storm and unite the Shepherds with their flock. The storm will calm and the Ark stabilise. We will actually realise that we have won, but Christ already won for us in his death and Resurrection. Go in Peace. Pax Vobiscum.
It was never perfect...God is perfect and He is the only thing that is.
My dear friends in Christ: Vat II reminds us that the Gospels are relevant at all times and provide the basis of all we believe, do and for which we hope.
Reading the signs of the times, Synodality and Subsidiarity are merely forms that allow as to more effaciously proclaim their timeless meaning in a changing world.
Such is not syncretism, it is inculturation.
As the Creator Spirit progressively revealed Itself throughout Salvation History, culminating in Christ, It continues so to do until the End Time.
Let us not fall out of step, and be left behind.
